The concept

Jaime Gost’s first solo exhibition in his own space in Llucmajor. A show bringing together close to forty original works — watercolours and mixed media on paper — devoted to the marine universe that defines his painting: prawns, octopuses, jellyfish, fish and Mediterranean horizons.

The prawn — humble, everyday, a star of both the sea and the Mallorcan table — gives the exhibition its title and its spirit: a celebration of colour, humour and the fresh gaze with which Jaime Gost portrays the creatures of the sea. Works full of transparency and movement that invite you to look at the Mediterranean from within.

The artist

I am a Mallorcan painter whose work is born from an intimate bond with the sea. Since my youth as a competitive canoeist I have kept a deep connection with the water, and that relationship translates into a painting that lives between the emotional and the abstract.

Through fluid techniques and enveloping compositions, I propose an encounter between human beings and the marine world, exploring the beauty, the danger and the fleetingness of that shared moment beneath the water.
