About the artist

Jaume Mir (Felanitx, 1915 – Palma, 2012), one of the great Balearic sculptors of the 20th century. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Madrid), he stood out for his anatomical mastery of the human body in bronze and stone. The slinger —es foner— is his most emblematic figure. He directed the School of Arts and Crafts of Palma and presided over the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Gold Medal of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (1992), Ramon Llull Award (1998) and Gold Medal of the City of Palma (2001).
