About the artist

Jaume Mir (Felanitx, 1915 – Palma, 2012), uno de los grandes escultores baleares del siglo XX. Formado en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Madrid), destacó por su dominio anatómico del cuerpo humano en bronce y piedra. El hondero —es foner— es su figura más emblemática. Dirigió la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Palma y presidió la Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts. Medalla de Oro del Círculo de Bellas Artes (1992), Premi Ramon Llull (1998) y Medalla de Oro de la Ciudad de Palma (2001).
